Group Show Statement:

“Conform to a theme?” Not likely! “New works, old works, large, small, 2D, 3D?” All of it!

These three artists have affinities and commonalities, but narrowing their creation to one theme would ignore the essence of what makes their “making” special – playful invention and individual narratives. A visit to their workshops tells the story: each dwelling in her own distinct world of materials, tools, time and techniques.

All are painters who also use mixed media. Their backgrounds range from illustration and graphic design to industrial and fashion design, to toy design and mural design, to public art design and fabrication to teaching and project management.

All are inspired by nature and human behaviors, by art history and the richness of other cultures. Sometimes working for commissions, sometimes for gallery shows, but often to just express something important to themselves, and so just for themselves. Sometimes elaborate in style, sometimes quaint and folksy. Sometimes decorative, sometimes autobiographical.

See what we mean? Impossible to narrow to a theme for a group exhibition! But the energy coming off the walls and bouncing around the gallery is fresh and vibrant, though-provoking and born of masterly craft. These women with their distinctly individual world visions welcome you into their combined and harmonious universe!
